Accommodation
Rustic Trails have found superb accommodation in the heart of our region.
La Maison Rose is an old winemaker's house, offering over 300 square metres of living space which has been completely renovated in 2005 by its English owners. There are five en-suite bedrooms, sleeping ten to fourteen people. The enormous lounge has many comfortable sofas, a well stocked English library, and a dining table easily seating fourteen. It's a beautiful, light but cool room in summer.
Around the house, the very large lawned garden of nearly one and a half acres is planted with fruit trees, walnuts and roses, flowers and shrubs. The organic vegetable garden provides fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs, all featuring strongly in your daily meals. The huge south facing terrace, with teak furniture to seat fourteen, overlooks the pool and enjoys superb views. It's the perfect spot for a relaxing breakfast or a delicious evening meal.
The 11 by 5 metre fenced pool is open from May to early October, and there are plenty of sun loungers, parasols and other garden furniture available. You could take a refreshing swim before breakfast, or after a busy day walking or sightseeing.
All bedrooms are spacious, bright and airy, with large beds, luxurious duvets and plenty of storage. All have en-suite bathrooms which are modern and well equipped, with very large showers or a bath and shower. A hair dryer is provided in all bathrooms. You may need to bring an adaptor if you have an electric razor.
A no smoking policy is operated inside the house for the comfort of other guests.
A computer and internet connection is available free of charge, so staying in touch with work, friends or family couldn't be easier.
La Maison Rose is in Saillans, a village with Roman origins on the Drome river. The village has an eleventh century church, several restaurants and bars, shops, post office, and a thriving Sunday market. It's a charming, unspoilt village, with narrow alleys, ancient buildings, a beautiful river, and lovely views of the hills and mountains.
We feel confident that you will be impressed by the friendly, informal and relaxed feel of La Maison Rose and it's English hosts, truly a home from home.
