Discovering Corsica
Corsica is the most mountainous and geographically diverse of the Mediterranean islands. The dramatic coastline, rugged granite peaks and a wonderful climate make Corsica a very special place.
This amazing holiday takes place in the heart of the Corsican 'Parc Naturel Regional', the Niolu, a picturesque and totally unspoilt region framed by high mountains set against beautiful Mediterranean skies.
This land of shepherds is criss-crossed with paths used for the seasonal movement of livestock, along which we will discover the unique flora (both alpine and Mediterranean) and fauna (such as the endemic bearded vulture or the wild Corsican mountain sheep) of Corsica as well as archaeological remains from the Neolithic Age.
We spend six nights in Niolu, and five day walks are scheduled to discover every aspect of this beautiful country.
The day off will permit you to visit Corte, citadel and former capital of the Corsican nation, unless you prefer to stay on the banks of lake Calacuccia.
Your accommodation for the holiday is a hotel in Calacuccia from which we can easily manage a variety of spectacular walks.
